Understand How Failures Spread

Learn how one small failure can travel into other materials, assemblies, and systems when it is not contained or discovered early.

Look Beyond the First Problem

Understand why fixing the obvious source does not automatically mean the entire condition has been resolved.

Recognize the Warning Signs

Learn why buildings often give clues before a problem becomes much larger and why detection, access, documentation, and responsibility matter.

About Stick Twenty-Nine — The Ruin

Buildings do not stay new forever. Materials age, drains clog, equipment wears, sealants fail, water moves, and parts eventually need repair or replacement. Stick Twenty-Nine introduces The Ruin — how a small condition becomes a large consequence when nobody sees it, owns it, or resolves it. The course follows the pattern Source → Exposure → Time → Consequence.  You’ll learn how failures can spread, why the original failure is often only part of the problem, and why containment, detection, access, measurement, and documentation matter before damaged assemblies are closed again.  The goal is simple: when something fails, do not only ask “Did we fix it?” Ask “What else did this touch?”
