The Opening

We spent the previous Sticks creating and connecting the building enclosure. Now we deliberately cut holes through it for windows and doors. Stick Twenty teaches you to stop thinking about the window or door as only the manufactured product. The Opening is the complete connection between that product and the site-built enclosure around it.  You’ll learn why water, air, heat, vapor, attachment, installation sequence, and operation all need to be considered. You’ll also begin asking where the unit sits in the wall, how water is managed, and who is responsible for the connection between the unit and the building.  The goal is simple: stop asking only “what window?” and start asking “what opening?”
