Understand What Moves Air
Learn how stack effect, wind, and fans can push or pull air through a building.
Create a Continuous Air Barrier
Understand why one continuous air-control path must be chosen and why you should be able to identify the material doing the job at every location.
Build Tight, Then Ventilate Right
Learn why a tight building is not a sealed jar. Air should enter and leave intentionally, through known paths and in controlled amounts.
About Stick Thirteen — The Seal
Air will find the openings in a building. Stick Thirteen focuses on controlling that movement by creating a continuous air-control boundary. You’ll learn how stack effect, wind, and fans move air and how uncontrolled air can carry both heat and moisture with it. The goal is to choose a clear air-control surface, trace it continuously around the building, identify the transitions and penetrations, and make sure the building’s ventilation happens intentionally rather than through random leaks.
