Keep Water Out
Understand how cladding acts as the building’s first defense against rain and weather.
Give Water a Way Out
Learn why walls need a continuous drainage path so water that gets behind the exterior can move down and safely leave the assembly.
Give the Wall a Chance to Dry
See how drainage gaps and rainscreen strategies can help moisture escape and allow the back of the cladding to dry.
About Stick Eleven — The Skin
Buildings live outside, so their walls will face rain, dew, and other sources of moisture. Stick Eleven focuses on the exterior “skin” of the building and how it manages that water. You’ll learn why keeping water out is important, but also why the wall needs a continuous path for water to drain when some gets behind the cladding. The goal is to understand the basic strategy: deflect, drain, dry, and use durable materials—while maintaining continuous control layers around the building.
